Aichernig Engineering GmbH, also known under its brand name REPOTEC, is an Austrian SME, engineering, and construction company, which is highly specialised in the engineering of advanced bioenergy plants. Its experienced engineers have worked for years on further developing suitable technologies. The bioenergy plant solutions developed within a team combine innovative energy utilisation and user-specific requirements.
In 2001 a CHP-process based on the steam gasification of biomass in a double fluidized bed process has been developed and successfully realized in Güssing. This process has been commercialised over Europe and is recently also realised in Japan. The Biomass Gasification CHP Plant in Senden (D) set a new levelling for process efficiency and in Gothenburg the first Biomass to SNG plant has been built.
RISE role in Bio-FlexCLC:
cOur main tasks in the projects are the support of the tests at TU Darmstadt’s 1 MWth pilot plant to demonstrate the innovative chemical looping concepts developed in this project (i.e. operation of a flexible CFB-CLC unit, fuel flexibility, and packings in the fuel reactor) in an industrially relevant environment. The support will cover the adaption and preparation of the plant and the evaluation and interpretation of the results.
Furthermore, we will be responsible for the upscale of the technology to commercial scale plants, support simulation works and contribute to the techno-economic assessment of the new technology including the comparison to state-of-the-art biomass power plants.
